What to Expect at FAME Week Africa 2026

From 28 to 30 October 2026, FAME Week Africa returns to CTICC2 in Cape Town, bringing together Africa’s film, television, music, fashion, and creator industries with international markets for three days of deal-making, panel discussions, and creative networking.

Featuring 211 confirmed speakers, the conference program spans production, distribution, financing, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, music rights, digital entertainment, and global audience expansion.

“Cape Town is proud to once again welcome FAME Week Africa and the creative community it brings together from across the continent and around the world,” says Alderman JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security: City of Cape Town. “Our city has a thriving film, television, music, fashion and creative sector, and events like FAME Week Africa give us an opportunity to showcase that talent while bringing producers, buyers, commissioners and investors together to do business.”

80+ Buyers, Commissioners & Major Pitching Platforms

For content producers and showrunners, FAME Week Africa serves as a major trade springboard. Over 80 international buyers and commissioning editors will be on the market floor alongside distributors, broadcasters, platforms, and financiers.

Using the ConnectMe digital platform, delegates can schedule one-on-one meetings prior to arrival.

Key corporate highlights include:

  • MultiChoice Group & CANAL+: Following CANAL+’s acquisition moves, senior executives from MultiChoice, CANAL+, and STUDIOCANAL will host a joint session detailing commissioning priorities and pitch guidelines for CANAL+ Africa.
  • Dedicated Market Hubs: Highlighting specialized pitching sessions across film, TV, animation, and unscripted formats.

Industry Talent & Spotlight Conversations

A stellar lineup of creatives and executives will participate across the three-day agenda, including Kim Jayde, Thando Thabethe, Thabo Rametsi, Flavia Motsisi, and Mimi Bartels.

Gender representation takes center stage, with actress Lorcia Cooper delivering the keynote address at the African Women in Entertainment Breakfast powered by RAY Content Hub.

France Named 2026 Destination Focus

France takes center stage as FAME Week Africa’s 2026 Destination Country. A delegation of French producers, buyers, and distributors will join African counterparts to drive co-productions, distribution deals, and cultural exchange.

The focus kicks off on 27 October with French Night at the Homecoming Centre, featuring the African premiere of ‘Le Fantôme de l’Opéra’.

“Beyond the screenings and events, this focus on France creates valuable opportunities for French and African professionals to meet, exchange ideas and explore new collaborations across film and television, fashion, music and the wider creative industries,” says Jean Spiri, Head of Cooperation at the French Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi and Director of the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS).

Celebrating Two Major Industry Milestones

FAME Week Africa 2026 coincides with two historical milestones for South Africa’s screen industry:

  1. 50 Years of SABC Television: The public broadcaster, serving as Gold Sponsor, reflects on its 50-year legacy while outlining its future digital distribution strategy. (SABC1 recently claimed 20 of the top 30 most-watched terrestrial TV programs in Mzansi).
  2. 10 Years of Netflix in South Africa: Commemorating a decade of local investment that has supported over 8,000 jobs and partnered with more than 30 local production companies.

Beyond the Conference: Music, Fashion & Shorts Festival

  • Muziki Africa & Music Week: Focusing on music rights, royalties, sync licensing, AI monetisation, and hosting the Pretty Loud Summit and Music Exchange.
  • African Fashion Forum & Tastes + Threads: Bringing together fashion, gastronomy, and music under the theme ‘Threads of Africa: From the Streets to the World’.
