Campmasters Push Beyond Their Signature Sound with Double Album ‘Camp Yakithi II’

South African DJ and producer duo Campmasters have released their ambitious 25-track double album, Camp Yakithi II, via music powerhouse gamma.

Divided into two distinct discs, the project showcases the Umlazi-born duo’s sonic evolution while keeping one foot firmly planted in their signature Durban soundscape. Disc 1 spans 10 tracks exploring 3-Step and Afro-tech, while Disc 2 delivers 15 high-energy Gqom records.

Heavyweight Mzansi Features & Focus Track “Ukube Bengizenzela”

The double album features a star-studded lineup of collaborators across genres, including DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tira, Xduppy, Young Stunna, Nkosazana Daughter, DJ Veek, Blaq Seed, Zeh McGeba, and Miikey Ndlovu.

The album’s focus track, “Ukube Bengizenzela,” features Young Stunna, DJ Veek, Miikey Ndlovu, and Blaq Seed. Translating to a message of hope and self-reliance, the single blends soulful melodies with heavy-hitting production.

“To us this project is about us showcasing our unique versatility throughout the different South African sounds,” says Mzwandile Khuluse of Campmasters. “This project carries two different discs that have different styles of production. We made this project for everyone and it doesn’t have any limitations when it comes to music — Gqom, 3-Step, Amapiano, everyone is covered. When people listen, they must understand it’s about our growth in the musical scene.”

Expanding the Umlazi Legacy

Formed in Umlazi, Durban, in 2010 by Mzwandile Khuluse and Khumbulani “Wonder Boy” Langa, Campmasters have built a reputation as powerhouse producers in South Africa’s dance scene.

Camp Yakithi II follows a string of chart successes, including the viral hit “Vathela” and “Awungazi” (featuring DJ Tira, General C’Mamane, and Pcee), which earned Gagasi FM’s prestigious Song of the Year title.
