Nando’s has officially lifted the lid on its new bespoke flagship restaurant in Stellenbosch, welcoming invited guests to an exclusive preview ahead of its public launch.
Nestled within the historic Woodmill precinct, the new location blends flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken with local architecture, fine art, and the relaxed outdoor lifestyle characteristic of the Winelands. Framed by surrounding mountain views and lush greenery, the space is built to encourage guests to sit back, connect, and stay awhile.
Bottomless Stations, Drive-Thru Theatre & Bar Culture
Designed by local teams, the restaurant balances Stellenbosch’s historical aesthetic with industrial design, featuring warm terracotta tones, natural textures, and a massive central rooflight.
The flagship eatery debuts several upgraded customer experiences:
- Dedicated Bottomless Station: Unlimited PERi-PERi sauces, soft serve, RUBRO iced tea, and soft drinks.
- Full-Service Bar: A relaxing space designed for evening catch-ups and lingering afternoon drinks.
- Drive-Thru Viewing Window: A dramatic glass portal giving drive-thru customers a front-row seat to the open-flame kitchen theatre.

Monumental 50,000-Piece Mosaic by Clive van den Berg
Greeting guests at the entrance is Aquifer, a monumental 9-metre-long, 3.7-metre-high mosaic created by acclaimed South African artist Clive van den Berg.
Crafted from approximately 50,000 hand-cut pieces of stone, ceramic, and glass, the installation took over 6,000 hours to complete alongside ten master artisans trained through the Spier Arts Academy. The piece marks a full-circle reunion for Van den Berg and his team, who previously collaborated 15 years ago on a large-scale mosaic for Nando’s King’s Cross restaurant in London.

Home of the New Siya Sauce & Local Sounds
The VIP opening night also served as the official launchpad for the new limited-edition Siya Sauce, co-created alongside Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. Guests enjoyed the first taste of the mild, garlic-citrus sauce accompanied by live sets from saxophone sensation Duncan Johnson and DJ Hluma Shoko (@not_a_she) from the Bridges for Music community.
The flagship opening underscores Nando’s ongoing commitment to local art, music, and culinary culture through partners like the Spier Arts Trust and Bridges for Music.
