Rhythm, Sun, and Craft: Amarula Teases the Summer Season at Nirox Spring Jazz

As spring gives way to warmer days in the Cradle of Humankind, Amarula joined music and culture lovers at Nirox Spring Jazz to celebrate the season through an authentic expression of African craft, connection, and conviviality.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Nirox Sculpture Park, the iconic African cream liqueur brought its “Soul Made. Served Chilled.” platform to life, inviting festival-goers to experience Amarula simply served over ice.

Shifting into Warmer, Social Occasions

The occasion marked the official start of Amarula’s summer season and a shift in how the brand shows up for warmer, more social gatherings.

Rooted in the native marula fruit and the rural communities behind its harvest, Amarula’s story has always been centered on African provenance and craft. At Nirox, that heritage found a contemporary expression alongside live music, outdoor art installations, and shared moments under the sun.

Rather than overpowering its surroundings, the brand seamlessly blended into the flow of the festival, with guests gathering across the open-air landscape to enjoy chilled drinks between live jazz sets.

Championing Contemporary African Makers

That celebration of African creativity extended beyond the liquid. Amarula integrated the work of leading contemporary African design partners into the event experience, including:

  • Modern Gesture
  • Louise Décor and Design
  • Oneofeach

The collaboration highlighted locally made design, bringing artisan craftsmanship directly into the event’s aesthetic and seating areas.

“Through these collaborations, the brand is building a more contemporary expression of African craft; one that champions the hands, ideas and creative talent shaping modern African design,” says Diana George of Lerato Designs, lead curator for Amarula Craft Partners.

Soul Made. Served Chilled.

The Soul Made. Served Chilled. platform unites two sides of the Amarula narrative: the care behind its production and the simple pleasure of how it is best enjoyed during the warmer months.

“Amarula has always been made with soul; from the marula fruit and the communities who harvest it to the care and craft that go into every bottle,” the brand shared. “At Nirox, we were able to extend that story beyond the liquid, celebrating the incredible creative talent coming out of Africa today. And as we head into summer, we’re inviting people to rediscover just how beautifully Amarula can be enjoyed chilled. Surrounded by music, creativity and good company.”
