For most corporate executives, a long-haul flight is a rare opportunity to catch up on unread emails, prep slide decks for the next meeting, or attempt to get a few hours of sleep. For Theo Mseka, better known in the music scene as DJ MidTempo, it is where the beat drops.
By day, Mseka operates in the high-stakes world of international corporate leadership, serving as CEO and Managing Director of Germany’s real-estate tech giants immowelt and AVIV Germany GmbH. Away from the boardroom, however, he is a South African producer, vinyl collector, and founder of Tahoe Studios whose sound moves seamlessly across Afro House, Afro Tech, Amapiano, 3-Step, and electronic influences.
Now, those two worlds are officially colliding on his 12-track debut album, Cheza Kidogo, dropping on 11 September 2026 via Tahoe Studios. Remarkably, Mseka estimates that roughly 70% of the album was produced while traveling aboard flights connecting Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Berlin.
The Boardroom Meets the Dancefloor
It is an unusual balancing act. With over two decades of global corporate leadership under his belt, Mseka has built a reputation in Germany’s tech sector while quietly cultivating his craft as an electronic music producer.
Cheza Kidogo (Swahili for “dance a little”) bridges the African electronic rhythms that shaped him in South Africa with the club culture of Berlin, where he spends much of his time.
Unlike emerging full-time musicians, Mseka’s corporate success affords him a rare level of creative freedom. Unbound by the pressure of chasing streaming algorithms or immediate radio hits, he approaches production through the pure lens of a lifelong vinyl enthusiast.

A Turkish Track Made at 33,000 Feet
The story behind the album’s creation sounds like movie script material. One of the album’s most unique records, “Bu Islak Sokaklarda,” was produced entirely at 33,000 feet.
The Turkish-language track features lyrics adapted from a poem written by a close friend during Mseka’s five-year stint working with Turkish real-estate platform Hepsiemlak. The result is a wild global hybrid: an African producer moving between SA and Berlin, producing a Turkish-language record in mid-air while crafting an African electronic album.
Despite his global travels, South Africa remains the core heartbeat of the project. Cheza Kidogo features a stacked list of local collaborators, including:
- “Zimbali” with Deestar ZA feat. Luvintage & K.D.M Luminous
- “Nobody Else” with August Muzika, Wade Yarrow & Maijor Habe (the lead single)
- “Sabela” with Kamza HeavyPoint & Yarah Lerah
- “Zaka” with August Muzika & NATASHA MD
- “Durban Nights” with Rocktea & Still Matah
Through Tahoe Studios, Mseka aims to use his platform to create real opportunities for emerging African talent to break into global electronic markets.

Born at 3:05 AM: A Deeply Personal Birthday Release
Beyond executive titles and international features, Cheza Kidogo holds deep personal meaning for Mseka.
The record “Kalemela” pays homage to his father’s home village in Mwanza, Tanzania, while echoing “Kalimera” (Greek for “good morning”), tying back to Thessaloniki, Greece, where Mseka was born at 3:05 AM on 11 September.
Releasing the album on his birthday, 11 September 2026, completes a full circle. Mseka has even crafted a signature DJ ritual around the origin story: whenever his set runs past 3:05 AM, “Kalemela” plays at that exact minute to connect his birthplace, his roots, and his music.
Cheza Kidogo drops across all major streaming platforms on Friday, 11 September 2026.
