First Impressions: Living With the HONOR X9d

At PopPulse, phones are not just gadgets. They are tools we use in the middle of fast-moving timelines, group chats that never sleep, and the constant need to capture a moment before it disappears. So instead of treating this like a lab test, we spent time using the HONOR X9d the way we actually use any device. In real life, in real time, and in the middle of pop culture chaos.

The everyday rhythm

The biggest thing we noticed early on is how easily the phone blends into a content-heavy routine. From early morning headline checks to late-night scrolling, the experience feels smooth and consistent. The 6.79 inch OLED display makes a difference here. Watching trailers, catching up on interviews, or just bouncing between apps feels immersive without being overwhelming.

Performance-wise, it keeps up with the pace. Powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 platform, multitasking between social apps, editing tools, and streaming never felt sluggish. It is not the kind of phone that makes you think about processing power. It just keeps moving at the speed you need.

Battery life that matches the lifestyle

In a pop culture environment, battery life matters more than almost anything because you are always online. The 8300mAh battery has been one of the most noticeable parts of the experience. It comfortably gets through long days of messaging, content consumption, and light editing without the constant search for a charger.

Fast charging support also means that when you do need power, you are not stuck waiting around. It fits the reality of busy schedules where downtime is rare.

Design and feel

There is a certain polish to the design that makes it feel current without trying too hard. Slim in the hand and easy to carry, it feels durable enough for everyday movement between meetings, shoots, and events. The build gives off that reassuring sense that it can handle a hectic schedule without feeling bulky.

Camera so far

Our testing with the 108MP main camera has mostly happened in personal environments so far. Everyday moments, casual content, and quick social posts. It has been reliable for capturing clean, detailed shots in those settings.

We have not yet had the opportunity to fully test the camera at red carpets or major events, so stay tuned. We will be sharing our coverage using the device soon, once we put it through those real-world pop culture scenarios.

The overall take

Right now, the HONOR X9d feels like a phone that understands how people actually use their devices. A large, vibrant display, strong battery life, dependable performance, and a camera that is ready for more serious testing.

As we continue to use it in more high-energy environments, especially live events, we will have more to report. For now, it fits naturally into the PopPulse workflow, which is exactly what you want from a device that is meant to keep up with culture as it happens.
