THE JAECOO GROOTMANS TABLE: HONOURING MODERN MANHOOD, LEADERSHIP AND LEGACY IN SOUTH AFRICA

There is a growing shift in how South African men talk about themselves, their families, and the way they show up in the world. That energy was unmistakable on Sunday, 30 November 2025, when The Jaecoo Grootmans Table gathered men from across Johannesburg for an afternoon of honest conversation and reflection.

Hosted at ZOR and guided by Blaque Nubon of That Husband Podcast, the event created a rare environment where men felt free to sit down, slow down, and speak openly about the parts of manhood that are often overlooked. Soft instrumentals, a few soulful small bands, and the smooth rise of saxophones set the mood, creating a space that felt more like a brotherhood gathering than a formal event.

The Grootmans Table is steadily becoming a cultural movement. It celebrates the modern South African man who carries both strength and softness, who leads his family while also learning, listening, and healing. Through guided conversations and stories shared around the room, guests explored fatherhood, mentorship, emotional health, and the pressures that shape today’s men. Many walked away with new insights and a renewed sense of purpose.

Familiar faces added their voices to the conversation. Jaecoo ambassadors Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi, Zulu Mkhathini, and veteran actor Nimrod Nkosi shared personal reflections that resonated with the room, offering honesty, humour, and the kind of relatability that makes men feel seen.

“The Jaecoo Grootmans Table is about creating a place where men can reflect, share, and support one another,” says Blaque Nubon. “It shows that emotional presence and self-care are just as important as traditional leadership.”

Omoda Jaecoo Brand Manager, Lungelo Zwane, says the brand sees the initiative as an extension of its philosophy of purposeful living. “We believe in empowering people to explore boldly and connect meaningfully. The Grootmans Table brings that vision to life by uplifting men who lead, mentor, and inspire their communities.”

What unfolded was not simply an event but a reminder of how powerful it is when men sit together without judgement and speak with intention. In a culture that is slowly redefining masculinity, The Jaecoo Grootmans Table feels like an important step in the right direction.
