GWM Celebrates 18 Years in South Africa with a Vibrant FAM FEST

GWM South Africa marked its 18th anniversary with the first-ever FAM FEST, a lively full-day celebration that brought together customers, families, dealers, and friends of the brand at Syringa Park in Muldersdrift. The event captured everything that has shaped GWM’s presence in the country for nearly two decades: community, curiosity, connection, and a sense of belonging.

The day opened with a standout moment as the GWM Owners Club and the Haval Ladies community led an enthusiastic convoy into the festival grounds. Their arrival created an instant atmosphere of unity and pride, serving as a reminder that GWM’s story in South Africa belongs as much to its people as it does to its vehicles.

Syringa Park offered something new at every turn. Families browsed food stalls, explored installations, enjoyed playful photo moments, and tested GWM’s latest models. Friendly competitions and relaxed hangout spaces added to the easygoing flow of the festival, turning the venue into a dynamic playground of movement and discovery.

Children had their own world to enjoy within a dedicated kids zone filled with colorful play areas and hands-on experiences. Adults took part in games and spent time in relaxation spaces, while the 4×4 test drive zone gave guests a chance to experience the capability, safety, and performance features behind GWM’s growing range.

Music anchored the festival throughout the day. MiCasa had the crowd singing to familiar favorites, Kamo Mphela brought electric energy with her signature moves, and Karen Zoid charmed festival goers with her well loved hits. Oscar Mbo closed the day with deep house grooves, while Jo Black delivered heartfelt sing-along moments. The Mapantsula Movement added cultural pride and nostalgia to the lineup, rounding off the festival with a sense of heritage.

While the event was filled with entertainment, FAM FEST also acknowledged the brand’s evolution in South Africa. Since its early years, GWM has steadily grown into a significant player in the automotive landscape through bold design, technology-forward features, and a focus on lifestyle-centric driving. The Jolion has become one of the country’s most popular models, with more than 3000 units sold in the first quarter of 2025 alone.

“This was more than a party,” said Conrad Gronewald, Chief Operations Officer at GWM South Africa. “It was a celebration of trust and shared value. FAM FEST is about family, fun, and lifestyle, and it also marks the beginning of a new chapter for GWM as we continue to innovate and grow alongside our customers.”

As the sun set over Syringa Park, the spirit of the event lingered. It was a day that reflected gratitude for the past 18 years and excitement for the future.

Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa, summed it up simply: “Our customers write the story of this brand. Every family, every driver, every person who joined us today is part of what makes GWM what it is. We are committed to building vehicles and experiences that reflect the lives and aspirations of South Africans.”
